Project Engineer – Site Development

JOB OVERVIEW

Robert Peccia & Associates (RPA) is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Project Engineer to join our Site Development Group. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in designing and delivering innovative site civil and infrastructure projects across Montana and the Western US. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio ranging from USFS and NPS projects, residential and commercial developments to public and institutional facilities. WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS POSITION

You will support and lead design efforts across a broad range of site development projects. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Design & Engineering: Perform detailed site design, including grading, drainage and utility design using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Plan Production: Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates that comply with applicable codes and client standards.
  • Technical Analysis: Conduct engineering calculations, feasibility assessments, and site evaluations to support design decisions.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth project delivery and permit approvals.
  • Project Support: Assist in budgeting, scheduling, quality control, and technical reviews to ensure high-quality outcomes. 

Qualifications

We are looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate has: 

  • Education and Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) with a Professional Engineering (PE) license in Montana, or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of progressive experience in site development or municipal civil engineering projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D with a solid understanding of grading, stormwater systems, utility design, and site layout.
  • Attributes: Strong communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
