JOB OVERVIEW
Robert Peccia & Associates (RPA) is seeking a driven and technically skilled Site Development Design Team Leader to lead the design and delivery of site civil projects. This is an opportunity to combine your design expertise and leadership to deliver impactful site civil development solutions.
In this position, you will oversee technical efforts on multidisciplinary site development projects for the USFS, NPS, private and public entities. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure exceptional outcomes. The role balances hands-on design work, technical leadership, and mentorship within a supportive, team-oriented environment.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS POSITION
In this position, you’ll take a leading role in shaping design quality, driving technical excellence, and supporting project delivery. You’ll contribute directly to the growth and development of both your team and the Site Development Group. Key responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership: Lead engineers and designers in the production of civil site plans, grading and drainage designs, utility layouts, and construction documents.
- Mentorship & Development: Act as a trusted mentor to junior staff, providing hands-on technical guidance, design reviews, and career development support.
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with other disciplines and manage coordination with subconsultants to ensure cohesive, integrated designs.
- Quality Assurance: Support quality control processes by conducting design reviews and ensuring alignment with RPA standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Client Engagement: Participate in meetings and presentations, providing technical insight and building rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Project Support: Assist project managers with scope development, schedule planning, and design execution to meet project goals and deadlines.
Qualifications
We are looking for a thoughtful, adaptable leader who is passionate about design excellence and team success. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Education and Certification: Bachelor’s degree Civil Engineering, or related field. Professional Engineering (PE) license in Montana or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
- Experience: 6-12 years of relevant experience in site development or municipal engineering, with a strong understanding of civil site design practices.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and experience with grading, utilities (water, sewer, and storm), and site layout.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and providing clear direction on project deliverables.
- Attributes: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, organizational strength, and a commitment to mentoring and collaboration.
