Public Land Routes
Transportation and Infrastructure Solutions that Enhance Our Land’s Beauty and Accessibility
Transportation Design for Environmentally and Operationally Sensitive Locations
RPA provides public land transportation services that help connect people with some of the most scenic and environmentally significant places in the western United States. Our team has planned, designed, and delivered transportation improvements that enhance access and safety while protecting the landscapes that make these destinations unique. We have partnered with the FHWA Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD), the National Park Service (NPS), the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to design infrastructure that respects both the natural environment and the visitor experience.
Working on public lands requires balance. Every project must consider access, recreation, and preservation, often across multiple agencies and complex terrain. RPA’s engineers, planners, and environmental specialists apply context-sensitive, low-impact design principles to develop roadway, bridge, and infrastructure solutions that blend seamlessly into their surroundings.
Our experience includes scenic byway and parkway reconstruction, visitor access enhancements, and roadway stabilization in remote or rugged terrain. Each project reflects RPA’s commitment to durability, sustainability, and stewardship, creating transportation systems that improve safety and mobility while protecting the integrity and beauty of America’s public lands.
